10.4How do I read the measurement sheet?
The measurement sheet is the table of quantities extracted from your survey. This is the document to send out for a contractor tender or a cost estimate.
It is organised into tabs:
- Stats — the overall summary of the plan;
- Walls — one wall per row, with its area, opaque area and length;
- Doors, Windows, French doors — the detail of each joinery item.
The distinction between area and opaque area matters in renovation: the latter removes openings from the calculation, and it is the one used for a painting or insulation quote.
The last row of the walls table totals both columns for the whole floor.
These quantities feed directly into work costing.
